William Nordhaus is an American economist as well as a Sterling Professor of Economics at the Yale University. He is widely known for his work in Economic modeling and Climate change. William Dawbney Nordhaus was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. He came into this world on 31st May of the year 1941 which has now made him 77 years old. William is the son of Robert J. Nordhaus and Virginia Riggs. His father had co-founded the Sandia Peak Tramway and was from German Jewish family.

Growing up, William went to get his education from the Phillips Academy. He then attended Yale University from where he earned himself a BA and MA in 1963 and 1973. Additionally, he also holds a certificate from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques and a Ph.D. from the MIT.

William Nordhaus: professional life and career

William Nordhaus was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2018 in Economics for integrating the technological innovations into the long-run macroeconomics analysis. He was awarded the prize jointly with Paul Romer.

Nordhaus has authored more than 200 books which also include Is Growth Obsolete, Invention, Growth, and Welfare, Reforming Federal Regulation, The Efficient Use of Energy Resources, Warming the World, Managing the Global Commons, and the classic textbook, Economics. His books also include the topic of global warming and climate changes which is the primary areas of his research.

Prior to that, William is also the member of United States National Academy of Sciences as well as an elected fellow of an American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Since the year 1999, he has also been a foreign member of a Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
