Mark Kelly is originally from Orange, New Jersey, USA. He took his first breath in this world on 21st February of the year 1964 which has now made him reach at the age of 54. He was born to his parents Richard Kelly and Patricia Kelly. Both of his parents are retired police officers.

His other family member also includes his twin brother who is named as Scott Kelly. For his high school education, Kelly went to study at the Mountain High School from where he graduated in 1982.

After that, he got enrolled at the US Merchant Marine Academy. From there, Mark received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Engineering and Nautical Science. He completed his graduation from there with the highest honors in the year 1986.

In addition to that, Kelly also attended the US Naval Postgraduate School from where he earned a Master of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

Mark has married twice in his life and divorced once. He was previously married to his then-wife Amelia Victoria Babis with whom he exchanged his vows on 7th January of 1989. Mark Kelly: Career

Mark Kelly is an Astronaut, Engineer, US Navy Captain, and Senate candidate. In December of the year 1987, he became a Naval Aviator and then received initial training on A-6E Intruder attack aircraft.

Kelly was assigned to attack squadron 115 in Atsugi, Japan and also made two deployments to the Persian Gulf on an aircraft carrier USS Midway flying 39 combat missions in operation desert storm.

Mark and Scott both were selected in 1996 to be the shuttle pilots by NASA. The duo joined NASA Astronaut Corps in August. His first mission was in 2011 as a pilot of STS-108. Additionally, Kelly had also piloted STS-121 in the year 2006 and commanded STS-124 in 2008 as well as STS-134 in 2011.

He then made an announcement about his retirement from the US Navy and NASA on 21st June 2011 being effective on 1st October of the same year. Prior to that, Kelly is also the co-founder as well as strategic advisor of the Tucson-based near-space exploration company known as World View Enterprises.

Recently on 12th February of 2019, Mark launched a campaign for the 2020 US Senate Special Election in Arizona. In that campaign, he is running as the Democrat and he also hopes to take over a Senate seat which is currently held by Martha McSally.
