He started off his journey as a racer by competing in ASA Late Model Series races in 2004, where there were no age restrictions. He was titled a bona fide racing prodigy by 2005.
His first major NASCAR win came during the Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway in just his third start in the 2008 Nationwide Series.
He was the winner of 2016 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and 2017 Advance Auto Parts Clash and within no time he became the youngest driver to win a Nationwide Series race at 18 years.
As of 2018, he has had a few ups and down in the series but eventually scored his 50th NASCAR win in the Xfinity race at Watkins Glen and winning the pole.
