Professionally, Jessica McDonald is an American soccer player currently playing as a forward for the North Carolina Courage of NWSL. Jessica represents the US Women’s National Soccer team as a national player. Prior to NCC, Jessica played for Melbourne Victory, Chicago Red Stars, Portland Thorns FC, Seattle Reign FC, Western New York Flash, and the Houston Dash.
Jessica’s college career started with Phoenix College where she played soccer, basketball as well as ran tracks. Due to her skills, Jessica was named the 1st junior College All-America in Soccer and the NJC player of the year. In addition, she was also the record holder for the single season at the college for assists and goals. After excelling in each and every game of basketball, Jessica became America's number 1 rebounder in college and earned her position among 30 in scoring. Later, Jessica transferred to University of North Carolina for her sophomore year joining NCTH soccer team in 2008. Just after joining, Jessica's team won the National Championship.
In her senior career, Jessica was picked by the CRS for the 2010 WPS Draft. Unfortunately, Jessica suffered from a knee injury after making 5 appearances for the team. After that, Jessica signed up with the Melbourne Victory FC for the 2012-13 season. She appeared in 13 games where she scored 7 goals and helped the team reach the Grand Finals against Sydney FC. Furthermore, Jessica signed up with Seattle Reign FC in 2013 after playing for Chicago Red Stars for a season of NWSL. Likewise, McDonald moved from SRFC to Portland Thorns, to Houston Dash from PT and to Western New York Flash from HD. While at PT, Jessica hit her fastest goal in the history of NWSL. However, in 2017, WNYF turned itself into North Carolina Courage. Jessica was the 1st NWSL player to have scored 33R season career goal. Currently, Jessica McDonald is playing for NCC.
Talking about her international career, Jessica represented the US on the U16, U17, U20, and U23 and on the senior national team. In her under 20 matches for PAG, Jessica's team won silver after Brazil's senior team won against them with 5-0.
