Jacqueline Jill Smith (born on 3 November 1962) is a British Labor lawmaker. She was the Member of Parliament for Redditch from 1997 until 2010, the principal female Home Secretary and the third lady to hold one of the Great Offices of State, after Margaret Thatcher (Prime Minister) and Margaret Beckett (Foreign Secretary).
She surrendered as Home Secretary on 5 June 2009 after her contribution in the United Kingdom parliamentary costs embarrassment in which she had erroneously asserted that a room in her sister's home was her primary home.
