Evan Solomon: Professional Life

Professionally, Evan is a journalist and radio host. In 1992, Solomon became the co-founder of Shift with Andrew Heintzman. It used to be an arts and culture magazine but then grew to concentrate especially on technology and Internet culture. Solomon departed from the magazine in 1999 to promote his first novel, Crossing the Distance. He has also done some work as a broadcaster.

He hosted the series FutureWorld, The Changemakers, and Hot Type for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. In 2004, Solomon used to work as co-editor, with Heintzman, on "Fueling the Future: How the Battle Over Energy is Changing Everything". He also worked as the co-anchor with Carole MacNeil of CBC News: Sunday Night and CBC News: Sunday 2004 to 2009.

In 2009, Solomon was appointed to host the show CBC Radio One's weekly political affairs series The House and CBC News Network's "Power & Politics". On June 9, 2015, Solomon was dismissed from CBC because he allegedly took secret commissions to broker art sales of items owned by his friend and art collector Bruce Bailey to people he was in touch with through his position.

In August 2015, Sirius XM Canada made an announcement that they were taking in Solomon to host a political talk show, Everything Is Political. Solomon made an announcement saying he was entering the Ottawa-area talk radio station CFRA in 2016.

He is the host of CTV's Question Period. He has been working here since September 2016. In September 2017, Solomon entered CFRB network in Toronto for a talk radio program, The Evan Solomon Show.
