A writer, Danielle Steel was born on 14^th August of 1947 and she has now reached at the age of 71. She is the native of New York City, New York, US. Most of her childhood was spent in France. Her father John Schulein-Steel was a German whereas her mother Norma da Camera Stone dos Reis was a Portuguese. When Steel was 8 years old, her parents got divorced. She was then raised by her father that made her see her mother rarely.

Steel started to write poetry by her late teens. She was raised up as a Catholic and she also thought of being a nun. She went to study at the Parsons School of Design.
