Professionally, Baker Mayfield is an American football quarterback. His career started when he was in high school and continued through college. Throughout his high school career, he enjoyed very impressive stats: 6,255 passing yards, 8 interceptions, and 67 touchdowns and winning the 4A State Championship in 2011 with a run of 25 wins in 27 games.
While in college, he was the chosen quarterback for the 2015 season after defeating Trevor Knight in an open contest for the spot. He helped the Sooners to get to victory over Auburn while he was in his senior year as they won the 2017 Sugar Bowl. In the corresponding season, he won the Heisman Trophy with a landslide which made him the only walk-on ever to win the prize.
Baker was chosen by the Cleveland Browns with the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. His rookie contract with the Browns states that it is a 4-year deal meriting $33.1 million with a signing bonus of $21.9 million.
