TRANSGENDER contender Alana McLaughlin won her MMA debut against Celine Provost on Friday night.

The 38-year-old is the first transparently transsexual competitor to contend in MMA since Fallon Fox ventured into the enclosure in 2014.

McLaughlin got a second-balance win by stifling Provost, in spite of the fact that it was anything but a simple battle for the rookie.

McLaughlin was shaken by her adversary in the first round prior to recuperating to constrain an accommodation.

The battle was at first planned for August 6 yet was delayed after Provost tried positive for Covid in July.

McLaughlin passed all clinical prerequisites prior to making her MMA debut, including chemical appraisals.

In front of the battle, the debutant composed on Twitter: "It's likely an ideal opportunity to quit taking a gander at web-based media and get engaged.

"See you on the opposite side, cats!"

She came out as transsexual in 2003, matured 20, yet was denied sex reassignment medical procedure by her mum and joined the military.

McLaughlin served in Afghanistan and was subsequently determined to have PTSD prior to going through sex reassignment medical procedure in 2016.

She as of late started MMA preparing and locates Fox, who won five of her six expert MMA battles somewhere in the range of 2012 and 2014, as her motivation.

As cited by the Mirror, McLaughlin said: "I need to get the mantle that Fallon put down.

"The present moment, I'm emulating Fallon's example. I'm simply one more advance en route and it's my extraordinary expectation that there is something else to follow behind me.

"Assuming we need to see more trans competitors, assuming we need to see more freedoms for trans children, we must work out way into those spaces and get it going."
