Shamima Begum: Struggle to return to the UK

Shamima is currently a mother of a baby boy whom she gave birth in February of 2019. According to some sources, Begum wanted to come back to her hometown, England to give birth to her child. Previous to that, her two children died in infancy from illness and malnutrition.

Moreover, Shamima has also decided to escape from the last stand of ISIS in the front-line village of Baghouz in Eastern Syria before two weeks. She has cited concerns for her baby who is going to come in this world.

Begum’s partner capitulated to the Syrian soldiers allied to the U.S. supported Syrian Democratic Forces weeks ago. Since then, she has not seen him. However, it isn’t clear that the request of Shamima will be accepted by the UK Home Office. Besides that, they have several of the rules for the citizens who had traveled to ISIS territory.

Prior to that, Ben Wallace who is the security minister of Britain had said that he would not put the lives of British people at risk to help Shamima return to the UK.
