Roger Goodell is originally from Jamestown, New York, United States of America. He came into this world on 19^th February of the year 1956 which has now made him reach at 59 years old. He was born as the third child among five children to his parents Charles Goodell and Jean Goodell.

His father is the US Senator of New York. Growing up, Roger went to get his education from the Bronxville High School where he was a three-sport star in the football, baseball, and basketball. Additionally, Roger also captained all of the three teams as a senior and he was also named the athlete of the year of the school.

Later, his injuries kept him away from playing college football. Goodell also got enrolled at the Washington and Jefferson College located in Washington, Pennsylvania and from there, he graduated in 1981 with a degree in Economics.

Roger Goodell: Professional life and career

After graduating from the college, Goodell wrote to every National Football League team in search of a job. He then succeeded and landed a job as an internship with the front office of the league. Roger then served for New York Jets as an intern.

Later, Goodell was promoted as the assistant of the President of an American Football Conference in the year 1987. By 2001, he had already become an executive vice president as well as a chief operating officer.

Roger later took over as a successor when the NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue made an announcement that he was stepping down in 2006. He was then chosen for that position over 4 finalists and won a close vote on a 5^th ballot before being approved by acclamation of the owners.
