Previously, de Lesseps was a licensed practical nurse based in Connecticut. In addition to that, she was also a Wilhelmina model. She gained notoriety when she came out as one of the cast members on a reality series called The Real Housewives of New York City.

Luann was demoted to the recurring Friend of the Housewives in 6th season because of not living in New York City. It was then confirmed in April 2015 that she would return as the main cast member for the 7th season of the show.

Luann also guest starred on “Law & Order: SVU” in February 2011 in an episode called Bully in which she played a socialite that makes a gruesome discovery.
