Katherine Feinstein: Career
After completing her school education, Katherine began serving as the prosecutor as well as a lawyer representing police officers accused of wrongdoing.
She then took a job with San Francisco City Attorney’s Office where Feinstein represented children in abuse and also custody cases. In the year 2000, Feinstein was appointed to the San Francisco Superior Court by California Governor Gray Davis.
In 2012, Katherine made an announcement about her retirement from the judgeship and the judge Cynthia Ming-Mei Lee would be replacing her as a presiding judge.
During her career, she had founded several of the initiatives including SQUIRES which is a scared straight program that matched the juvenile delinquents with convicts serving the life sentences at San Quentin State Prison as well as a program which jailed the drunks who skip their court dates unless they enter the treatment program.
Later in 2016, Katherine was named to the Medical Board of California by the California Governor Jerry Brown. That same year, she was once again named as the presiding judge of San Francisco Superior Court. The court is composed of the 52 judges and 12 commissioners.
