John was selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2017 NBA draft's 19th overall pick. After over a month, Collins signed the official contract with AH. Collins scored the average of 15.4 points, 1 assist and 9.2 rebounds in 5 games during the NBA summer league of 2017. Additionally, Collins made his 1st career double along with fourteen points and thirteen rebounds against Brooklyn Nets on the 22nd of October, 2017. Furthermore, against his game with the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers, Collins was able to score his career high 21 points and 14 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists respectively. Unfortunately, John suffered from a severe shoulder injury due to which he has to miss over 6 games.
