J.B. Holmes: Career

J.B. Holmes turned professional in the year 2005. He was a medalist at 2005 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament. Holmes tied for 10th in his first PGA Tour start at 2006 Sony Open in Hawaii and in February of that same year, he won the FBR Open which made him the fastest golfer to reach $1,000,000 in the career earnings on PGA Tour.

On 3rd February 2008, John won the FBR Open for the 2nd Tour win of his career and he also captured a tournament title for the second time in 3 years. In 2008 Ryder Cup, Holmes defeated Soren Hansen of Europe during the singles matches on Sunday to bring the US within one point of clinching the Ryder Cup.

Recently on 17th February of 2019, he won the Genesis Open which is his first victory in nearly 4 years.

Prior to that, John was dealing with the vertigo symptoms for some months and he eventually was diagnosed with structural defects in cerebellum called Chiari Malformations. Holmes underwent brain surgery on 1st September 2011 and a month later, the doctors discovered that he was allergic to an adhesive used on the webbed titanium plate at the base if his skull.

John was then airlifted to John Hopkins in Baltimore for another surgery. He later returned to PGA Tour in late January of 2012 at Farmers Insurance Open. After the surgery, Holmes played in 26 events in the year 2012.
