Alex Cora: Professional life and Career

It was in 1993 when Cora was drafted by Minnesota Twins in 12th round of Major League Baseball Draft. He did not sign the contract but decided to the collegiate baseball at the University of Miami. During his time there, Alex was named to College World Series All-Tournament Team in both 1995 and 1996.

It was on 7th June 1998 when Cora made his debut in major league with the Dodgers against a game with Seattle Mariners. He then spent his next 7 years with Los Angeles Dodgers. Later in January 2005, he signed as the free agent with Cleveland Indians. That same year on 7th June, Alex was traded to Boston Red Sox for the infielder Ramon Vazquez.

Cora again became the free agent on 30th October of the year 2008 and on 22nd January 2009, he signed a one-year deal with New York Mets. He then again resigned with the Mets in November 2009 for the 2010 season. On 17th August 2010, Cora signed the minor league contract with Texas Rangers and he was assigned in the Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City. He was later released by Rangers on 7th September.

After that, Cora was signed by the Nationals in January 2011 to a minor league contract. Following the 2011 season, Alex played the winter baseball in Puerto Rico and it was after that when he announced about his retirement.

After his retirement, Alex served as the color analyst for the baseball on ESPN and ESPN Deportes from February 2013 until November 2016. He was also the bench coach for Houston Astros.
