His father was a successful football player who bagged a Heisman trophy, as well as a broadcaster and mother, was an artist and an actress. Mark grew up alongside his two older sisters, Kristin Nelson and Kelly Harmon. Both of them grew up to become actresses as well.
He went to Harvard School and eventually attended Pierce College in Los Angeles to complete a two-year associate degree. LAter, Mark decided to transfer to the University of California, Los Angeles after receiving a better program.
