Christian Bahena Rivera is the person who has been charged with murder for killing Iowa student, Mollie Tibbetts. He was arrested on 21st August 2018.

Christian Bahena Rivera: The confession, the incident

Christian Bahena Rivera has confessed to killing Mollie Tibbetts. He was caught on Tuesday, 21st August 2018. He was first approached by the police on August 20. The police said that he was cooperative and talked about everything that happened. Some videos and local residents confirmed that it was his car that was seen behind Mollie as she was jogging.

As to the confession, Rivera said that he saw Mollie jogging and decided to approach her in her car. According to him, "She grabbed her phone and threatened to call the police" if he didn't leave her alone. He "panicked" and got so mad that he "lost his mind" and "blocked" his "memory". He said that this is what usually happens to him when he panics. Rivera said that he doesn't remember anything after that until he came to an intersection and saw headphones in his lap. It was then he realized that he had kept Mollie in the trunk of his car. He then went to get her out but saw "a lot of blood on the side of her head" so he carried her 20 meters into the cornfield and "left her covered in some corn leaves and left her there, face up".

Christian Bahena Rivera was found to be an undocumented illegal alien who is believed to be from Mexico. Thus, he is also being held on a federal immigration detainer. Rivera is said to have worked at a local farm for the last four years, according to The Associated Press.

Mollie went on a jog on July 19 and never came home. The Tibbetts family filed a missing person's report and about a month later, Christian was arrested with charges of murdering Mollie. He might allegedly face a lifetime in prison. Since he was found to also be an illegal alien, he might be facing additional charges. Currently, he is being held at the county jail on $1 million bail.
